How to Get an Even Finish When Staining Pine

Friday, April 10, 2015 -

Brave new waters for me people. You may have noticed my tutorials can get pretty lengthy. Partly because my techniques can be a little complicated, but mostly, I am anal and like to over explain. I've decided videos might be the way to go.

I've uploaded my first YouTube video! I'm feeling

uncharacteristically open at the moment so I will share a little personal information. I have extreme body/appearance issues and watching myself on camera is honestly painful for me. I know it is all in my head, but the pain and insecurity are real. Making videos in this vapid, internet-troll-filled world is taking me out of my comfort zone. Regardless, I think video tutorials may help you guys out, so I'm going to keep at it.

I've got a lot to learn about cinematography. Maybe next time I'll adjust the camera so my head isn't cut out of the shot :) #CousinIt. Watch the clip below and learn my process for getting an even finish when staining pine.

Let's be friends! Follow along, so you never miss a post

  3. Hi! By chance do you remember the stain color you chose for this video. I LOVE it! I am having trouble staining my pine samples (to a shade of my liking and without blochy-ness) and and your video is super helpful.
