It's going to happen. Maybe you'll bump against the door frame while moving into your new house, or your house guest will insist on dropping his keys on your wood coffee table. Somehow your beloved furniture is going to end up scratched. I had a mini breakdown after we moved into our current house and I discovered almost every single piece of furniture that I had built with my blood, sweat and tears was damaged. Luckily there are ways to fix furniture scratches and scuffs.

To test out these tips, I went to the thrift store and intentionally found a table in pretty rough shape. It was scratched, dented and worn when I started.

I tried out 5 different techniques but hands-down my favorite was the 3-in-1 Repair Stick from Mohawk. I've used furniture markers and fill sticks before, but having matching colors and a scraper all on one stick is unbelievably useful.  In addition to the usual wood  shades, the repair stick actually comes in colors specifically formulated to match Ikea products, making life even easier.

Watch the YouTube video below to see how each of the 5 tips work and how easy they were to apply. I swear, not one of the techniques I used took more than 3 minutes.

This little end table looks about a million times better after I worked some magic. I'm not sure if you can see in the photo, but the top looks almost as good as new! It's definitely worth a little elbow grease to keep my favorite pieces looking new.
