But No Elephants!

"Elephants huh? What's with the elephants?"

Over the last year and a half of blogging, I have had a few comments about the brass elephants that appear in many photos. Although I do think they look cool, there is a bigger reason why they pop up so frequently.

Guest Post- Washi Tape Temporary Wallpaper

Kayla from Home Coming is back to share another great project! This one is pretty darn awesome! #whydidntithinkofthat

Hi Pneumatic Friends! I'm here today to share my latest project as part of our Master Suite Remodel. We've finished up the majority of our remodel and are working on bringing in some of our personality into the space's decor.

Justin (aka. The Hubster) is building us a custom closet that we designed. In our new closet, I have one bare wall where I've hung modern hooks to hang my necklaces and scarves from. I've been toying with the idea of covering this wall with wallpaper, or painting it with a fun patterned stencil, but I just can't commit. I'm terrible at stenciling (like really, really bad) and wallpaper is such a commitment.

So I needed a temporary solution, and what better to use than Washi Tape!?

DIY Hairpin Legs

Monday, May 12, 2014

Hi everyone! I shared my Mid-Century Industrial Storage makeover with you last week and promised a hairpin leg tutorial. Did you know hairpin legs are hot right now? I know, my husband was shocked as well. He doesn't quite understand the huge Mid-Century craze that is going around right now. I love hairpin legs because of the vintage/industrial look the give something.

You guys, you have to try making these! Don't be scared because they are metal! They were really so easy to make, and cost a fraction of buying them pre-made.

Turn a Wall Mirror Into a Table Mirror

I wanted to share a quick little project with you today.

Easy Envlope Pillow Cover

Wednesday, May 7, 2014

There is a reason you have never seen a sewing tutorial on this blog before...

Because I hate sewing. I think that's a pretty good reason. Yes, I know how to sew (Mom made sure of that), and I am lucky enough to have a pretty nice machine. I will bust it out every blue moon to sew a valance or take in my boys' shorts, but the sewing machine and I are not friends.

When I came up with my idea for the Cheap and Easy Studded Pillow Cover, I jumped in with both feet. The project hit a major slow-down when it came to the sewing part. Finally, I got motivated and stitched up three of these easy envelope enclosure pillows. I'm telling you, they are really easy to sew and I love how they are removable. Perfect project for a beginning sewer.

Mid-Century Industrial Storage

This is one of those projects I'm having a reeealy hard time selling.

You see, it all started a couple months ago at a casino flea market (classy, I know). Bryce was trying to wrangle our boys while I quickly ran through the aisles, browsing. I spotted a cool, industrial metal shelving unit. Not thinking it would be in my price range, I asked the owners "how much".

Coffee Table Turned Tufted Bench

Friday, May 2, 2014 -
I was browsing through my old photos and found this post. I originally shared it over at Home Coming. You can read how I took a old, oddly proportioned coffee table and turned it into a diamond-tufted, upholstered bench.

I can't believe I forgot to take a "before" photo! The original color was that yellow-ish, cream color every piece of french furniture was painted last century. The top was a slab of cultured marble that looked like it was added later. The plan was to incorporate the marble into a different table, but... I have small children. I pulled it off and had it leaning against the wall in the garage, my boys found it, and there went my grand idea. I was able to save one larger piece at least.

With some pieces of furniture I have to get really creative, or put a lot of thought into what I want it to look like. As soon as I saw this table base, I got an idea. Go glam.
