Holy cow! Things are nuts right now guys! So since we're all currently on lock-down at home, I imagine most of you are like me and trying to be productive with what you have lying around. A few weeks ago I shared my SUPER SIMPLE garage shelves if you're in an organizing mood, but what if you need more work space?

How build a modern plywood nightstand with a continuous grain waterfall edge using the Kreg Adaptive Cutting System

My sister is getting ready to move into a much smaller house and needed some new furniture to match the new home's more petite scale. Good thing she has a sister who loves to build furniture.

I've been wanting to try a project with a continuous grain, mitered edge design that kinda creates a waterfall effect. It's traditionally a more advanced technique, but since I've been using my Adaptive Cutting System from Kreg  more and more, I figured this would be the perfect opportunity to test this tricky design element out.

It's hard when your best friend lives on the opposite side of the country. But when your best friend is an insanely talented DIY blogger and YouTuber, you find excuses to go see her for a "collaboration". Somehow, this is actually the second collab Sam From DIY Huntress and I partnered on this summer. The first was that segmented round coffee table Foureyes Furniture helped us build.

While I was on the east coast last month, Sam and I took a road trip down to Philadelphia to learn from woodshop master/ best teacher ever - Erik Curtis. Erik took Sam and I under his wing and showed us some more advanced woodworking techniques. We learned SO MUCH! It was awesome. All three of us created our own version of the same project, which I'll be sharing in a few weeks. So keep an eye out!

I thought I was pretty much done building furniture for my house and then the other day I went to put away some of my twin boys' laundry. I built them their modern dresser/bookshelf combo a couple years ago and it's still going strong! (one of my favorite builds to date btw). But, I had totally forgotten that we placed a crappy little particle board 3-drawer unit in the closet for a little extra storage. It was an inexpensive hand-me-down and as you can imagine, after 9 years of abuse from two very active little boys, that little piece of junk was on it's last legs.

Stair Tread Arm Chair - Building Plans

So building chairs is scary. There are so many factors you have to keep in mind, like angles and balance, which don't come to play with straight forward builds like tables and even beds. If a chair isn't the right height it doesn't function and if the back isn't angled properly, it becomes uncomfortable to use.

I actually built a wood and leather sling chair like 5 years ago (which has been sitting in my back yard and is miraculously still holding together), but sling chairs don't have to take into account all those tricky factors. The seat I normally use to put my shoes on everyday broke recently, so I decided it was time to woman-up and tackle a modern arm chair build.

How many half-baked ideas do you have swimming around in your head? Even if we don't claim to be "creative", we all have little thoughts and potential ideas that motivate us. Ever since remodeling my master bathroom, my shower door is constantly filled with doodles and measurements written in steam. I finally got to build a project which incorporates TWO design ideas I've been brainstorming for a while.

Are you a music buff? I always have music on, especially when I'm driving or at home. I finally got a record player a few months ago, and have been slowly building up my vinyl collection. The player I have is inexpensive and came with small built-in speakers. They were TERRIBLE! I ended up plugging in a separate portable speaker every time I wanted to listen to an album. I really wanted a dedicated console table or cabinet where I could hook up my record player, have some storage, and hide a pair of bluetooth speakers.

Everyone loves music. Why don't we have furniture with built-in speakers anymore?

I was walking around my local Home Depot a couple weeks ago and I made a freaking awesome discovery! Apparently, my location has started carrying 3/4" thick, S4S Walnut!!! S4S stands for Surfaced on 4 Sides. That means the boards are already smooth, straight, and ready to work with. You don't have to have a planer or special equipment to be able to create something with my very favorite hardwood.

I have a problem friends.

My shop (A.K.A. my half of the two car garage), is a disaster. I desperately need more storage and organization. My husband is a maker too (cars, not wood) and we are just running out of room! I've been dying for a mobile workbench that I can assemble my furniture on but I had no idea where I would store it. I started brainstorming and decided I could create a folding or collapsible workbench that could be stashed out of the way when not in use.

I have been up to my eyeballs in a bathroom remodel friends! Like most big projects, it's taken us much longer than expected. Back in October I shared the before photos and my design inspiration. My husband and I have done all the work ourselves, which means we've had to squeeze work hours into nights and weekends.

I am a twin mama. I have 7-year old identical boys. I kinda sorta decorated their room when I built their first "big boy" beds four years ago. Needless to say, their space is in MAJOR need of a makeover! I've started working on a new bedroom design and the first step was to build new bunk beds.
