Modern Rustic House Tour (A.K.A. More Rafterhouse Love)

Wednesday, October 8, 2014

Earlier this year I introduced you to the guys from Rafterhouse. Rafterhouse is a company here in Phoenix that does the most jaw-dropping home remodels I've ever seen. Its like Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, but better. You can see my first time I shared their work here

They recently finished a new home and I just had to show it off. Here's how the property looked before.

Here's what it looks like now.

Sometimes they'll add to what is existing, but in this case, they ripped off the roof and stripped everything down to the studs.

Don't you love all the light in this courtyard?

The inside is just as beautiful. The whole space feels open and bright.

Their designer is on point. The whole home is filled with the latest trends and colors.

The kitchen is my personal favorite. That subway tile...drool.

I think what I love about the Rafterhouse style is the mix of old and new. Contrast is the name of the game. Like the juxtaposition of the sliding barn door and these aqua Eames chairs.

If you happen to be in the market for a home in the Arcadia area of Phoenix, this one happens to be for sale. You can see the listing here

Make sure to stop by the Rafterhouse website and browse through some of their past projects. You can also find them on Instagram and Facebook

Let's be friends! Follow along, so you never miss a post

Trick For Spray Painting MDF

Friday, September 19, 2014

Have you ever spray painted MDF? It sucks, right? MDF stands for Medium Density Fiberboard. For those curious minds, there is a Low Density Fiberboard (A.K.A. particle board), and a High Density Fiberboard (A.K.A. Hardboard).

If You Like Me, You'll LOVE Them

Being a blogger, I kinda feel like its my job to read other blogs and stay up on what's new (that's what I tell my husband anyways). I often get asked which blogs I follow. I follow a wide mix of different blogs; some DIY, some craft, some home design, and a couple recipe. When it comes to DIY and furniture, I have my standbys that I make sure to read everyday.

Man, its been a while since I've written a "Talkin' Tools" post. To find my other tutorials, click the "Talkin' Tools" tab. After sharing how to build an Easy Industrial Coffee Table last week, I realized I need to explain grinders a little more but first, I want to announce the winner of the Finish Max Pro giveaway.

Okay, I'll admit it. A lot of my work has "a look". What can I say? I'm a vintage industrial junkie. After browsing the web, it looks like I'm not alone. Worn wood and metal seem to be popular these days. I've compiled my 50 favorite DIY Industrial Decor Ideas to share with you.

EASY Industrial Coffee Table (No Welding!)

Tuesday, September 2, 2014 -

I often get asked what is my favorite piece of furniture I have built. Although there have been many pieces I've loved, I am especially proud of my World Market "Aiden" Knock-off. This is the first piece I welded by my self, and it totally fits my style.
