Hi everyone! I got a new set of furniture plans fresh and hot out of the oven for you. Seeing how Mother's day is right around the corner, I've been thinking about projects that a Mom might need. I happen to be a mom and I decided I would love a make-up vanity that I could sit at and get ready for the day, so that's what I came up with. Since I'm digging more modern, clean lines right now, my DIY vanity has just that.

Brave new waters for me people. You may have noticed my tutorials can get pretty lengthy. Partly because my techniques can be a little complicated, but mostly, I am anal and like to over explain. I've decided videos might be the way to go.

My poor bedroom has been neglected. We inherited a hand-me-down guest bedroom set of furniture 7 years ago when we got married, and while I greatly appreciated having somewhere to sleep, it probably wasn't what I would have picked out myself. I decided I should finally start building us a new set, and here is the first piece.

Happy Monday everyone. I think most of the country is starting to settle into spring, and in our house we are getting ready for Easter.
This time of the year reminds me of my Grandma and her favorite song "Consider the Lilies" (you can listen to it here). A few nights ago, I had that beautiful song in my head, so I was prompted to open my bible and read the verses that inspired the song.

A few weeks ago, I was looking at the adorable, train themed boy's room at The Heathered Nest when I spotted a set of super cute box car bookshelves. After a little research, I discovered they were actually the Box Train Shelves from Pottery Barn Kids, and they've been discontinued. So, I wrote down the dimension and started building.

Most of the country is apparently covered in snow right now, or so the news tells me. Here is Arizona, we are flirting with Spring. Indulge me for a minute; this is the time of the year we get to brag to the rest of the country. The temperatures have been in the high 70's and it could not be more beautiful outside. Trees are blooming, birds are singing, and the sidewalks are filled with bicycles, scooters, skates, you name it. With this beautiful weather, I've been
How to Get a Textured, Raised Grain on Wood
Friday, February 13, 2015
Last week I shared my Jordan dresser knock-off with you, and I promised to show you how I got the textured, raised grain look on the drawer fronts. If you like the texture of old weathered wood, but don't have any of the real stuff laying around. no worries. I made my drawer faces from off the shelf 1 x 8's. A few simple steps make a big difference.

I'm a great boy mom. Despite the fact that I am a licensed hairstylist and have been known to sport 6" heels from time to time, I'm really not a girly-girl. When it comes to raising kids, I do much better with mudpies and monsters than glitter and emotions.
